- Build practical experience supporting and developing on enterprise‑scale mainframe platforms.
- Learn how modern development tools and practices integrate with mission‑critical systems.
- Gain exposure to system configuration, operational procedures, and troubleshooting techniques in a z/OS environment.
- Work alongside experienced engineers and mentors who provide guidance, feedback, and technical coaching.
- Develop professional skills such as communication, prioritization, and collaboration in a real business setting.
- Communication Skills: Ability to explain ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non technical audiences.
- Team Collaboration: Willingness to work as part of a team, contribute ideas, support teammates, and learn from others across different functions.
- Problem Solving: Ability to approach technical or operational challenges with curiosity, analyze information, and propose thoughtful solutions with guidance when needed.
- Adaptability: Openness to learning new tools, technologies, and processes, and adjusting to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Time Management: Basic organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, follow priorities, and meet assigned deadlines with support from the team.
- Development Tools: Familiarity with Visual Studio Code (VS Code), Git, and Python, with the ability to write and run basic scripts or test cases.
- Mainframe Fundamentals: Foundational understanding of mainframe concepts, including z/OS and IBM System Z architecture, gained through coursework, training, or hands on experience.
- System Setup and Maintenance: Exposure to system installation, updates, or patching through coursework, labs, internships, or entry level roles.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Demonstrated ability to investigate issues, ask the right questions, and assist in resolving system or application problems.
- System Configuration: Basic familiarity with z/OS environments, mainframe subsystems, or third party tools, including an introductory understanding of configuration files and system settings.

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
