Description and Requirements

This role is responsible for writing and content for BMC’s B2B web marketing properties, primarily focused on our main website www.bmc.com. This role requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, as you will be working closely with business stakeholders and Web Team members to craft the language and content that appears on our websites. This role requires writing new content, meeting with stakeholders to define requirements, editing content written by other marketers, and working with project management to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining brand standards, tone, and consistency. This position reports to the Director of Web Strategy on the Web Marketing team.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks & Activities:
  • Work with business stakeholders to create new web pages and update existing web pages
  • Work with project managers to define timelines and project roadmaps
  • Work with Web Strategy team (which this role is a part of) to develop new web page content models & templates – work with stakeholders to understand and fit their ideas into templates
  • Work with Web Development team to help define requirements for new component & page development based on knowledge of site content and likely use cases
  • UX writing for website features/functions, such as navigation and button text labels
  • Collaborate with Creative Services, Video Production, Strategic Marketing, and Solutions Marketing among other teams
  • Work with other marketing functions to define and implement correct tone of voice
  • Keep up to date with best practices and trends in writing for the web, social media, web usability, web design, & business/industry trends
  • Find opportunities to improve the writing and content on BMC websites
Skill Set Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years’ experience writing & editing for IT, Software, & B2B 
  • 2 or more years’ experience writing for the web
  • Strong command of US English grammar and usage with meticulous eye for details
  • Creative and organized marketing professional
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and deliver quality work under pressure
  • Experience working with a variety of media types – from PDFs, to videos, to headlines, to long-form web copy, to buttons and other web navigation elements
  • Ability to translate technical descriptions of software products into compelling marketing copy
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams where collaboration is required
  • Ability to efficiently communicate with and between technical and non-technical colleagues including individuals at multiple levels of the organization
  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed and culturally diverse team
  • Nice to have: Conversion-focused copywriting, experience with Content Management Systems (like Adobe Experience Manager or WordPress), website analytics, UX best practices, and basic HTML
