BMC is looking for a talented Staff Specialist Product Developer to join our family working on complex and distributed software, developing, and debugging software products, implementing features, and assisting the firm in assuring product quality.
- Primary responsibility for the development and maintenance of the BMC internal processes that deliver SMP/E software to BMC’s z/OS customers.
- Provides support for product teams using the internally developed maintenance delivery tools.
- Perform problem analysis and work with product teams to resolve problems on all supported systems.
- Work with product teams to define new releases as needed.
- Participate in code reviews of peer work and coordinate code changes with other developers.
- Experience developing in an Agile environment required.
- Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing basic issues. Error message resolution and problem analysis for abends required.
- Need good diagnostic skills including dump reading and analyzing trace output.
- Provide internal product teams and BMC customer assistance in resolving SMP/E problems as needed.
- Use creativity to employ automation and innovative solutions.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution.
- Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed.
Validate, document, and escalate design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs
To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- You Have 5+ years of experience designing and coding mainframe applications and system exits in an IBM z/OS environment.
- You have proficiency with Rexx/Clist, TSO/ISPF is required.
- You have proficiency with C, C++, & Assembler is highly desirable.
- You have proficiency with software installation, configuration, and maintenance processes.
- You are familiar with TCP/IP, CICS, DB2, MQ, IMS. JES2/JES3, USS and file transfer products experience a plus.
- You have knowledge of and proficiency with IBM products and utilities; prefer strong experience with BMC products.
- You have the ability to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures.
