BMC Software is seeking a Staff UX Researcher to join its UX Team.

What does a Quantitative UX Researcher do at BMC? 

·         Advocate for users and for the importance of user research and customer centricity in the design and development process 

·         Independently lead and conduct research projects across products to generate actionable insights using a variety of methods (e.g., product analytics, surveys, observations, contextual interviews, moderated/unmoderated usability testing, card sort, etc.) 

·         Conduct exploratory research to identify unknown gaps and opportunities using existing data (product analytics and surveys) and new data from initiated studies 

·         Partner with UX designers, product managers, architects, and developers to understand information needs/gaps 

·         Identify the best quantitative or qualitative research methods that match project needs, timelines, and given resources 

·         Assist/guide UX designers in preparing, conducting and gathering insights/feedback on concepts and designs 

·         Efficiently and effectively translate complex research data into meaningful and consumable insights 

·         Effectively communicate and illustrate research findings to teams and stakeholders 



Qualifications:

·         MS degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Data Science, Cognitive Science, or related fields 

·         3-5 years applied research and industry experience   

·         Proficient working knowledge in HCI research methods, data analytics, multivariate statistics, experimental design, and behavioral analysis 


Skills, Abilities, and Qualities
 

·         Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative UX research methods including data analytics, A/B testing, field observations, contextual inquiry, interviews, surveys, interviews, card sorts, concept/feature testing, moderated/unmoderated usability testing, etc. 

·         Ability to process and analyze data across multiple types of sources (e.g. data analytics, surveys, and observations) 

·         Proficiency in using a variety of UX industry tools used for design, testing, analysis, and documentation/presentation, e.g., Figma, InVision, UserTesting.com, TryMy UI, Optimal Workshop, Qualtrics, Microsoft Office.  

·         Fearless in applying UX research to unfamiliar and complex domains 

·         Passionate, creative, open-minded, persistent and having a highly collaborative mindset 

·         Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 

·         Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
