Description and Requirements


You will be working as a member of the Mainframe Tech Services infrastructure support team.  Our mission is to provide the IBM system Z infrastructure (hardware and software) required by the ZSolutions business unit R&D, Sales and Customer Support organizations.  You will work in conjunction with the Mainframe Tech Services team members and with the various Z Solutions teams to define, configure, install, modify and make available the appropriate z/OS, z/VM and Linux on z hardware and software products to be used for their product development and testing purposes.  
  • Provisioning z/OS, z/VM and z Linux LPARs or virtual systems.
  • You will be Performing problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems.  
  • Participate in early ship/early support programs as needed.  
  • Implement new hardware and software technologies as required.  
  • Develops documentation and provides knowledge transfer to peers.

  • Experience: three to five or more years’ current experience as a systems programmer with knowledge of a current zSeries operating system (z/OS, z/VM).
  • Working knowledge of z/OS systems administration, including USS, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JES2/JES3, JCL
  • Expert knowledge of and proficiency with IBM products and utilities; prefer experience with BMC utilities. 
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with installation, configuration and maintenance processes for IBM and ISV software products.
  • Thorough problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution, and independent work habits are necessary requirements. 
  • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks.
  • Ability to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures.
  • Experience working with mainframe hardware: e.g. IBM processors; storage systems from IBM & OEM’s like Hitachi, Dell EMC; SAN switches/directors.
  • Coding skills in REXX, SAS
