BMC is looking for a skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) to join our team. As an Oracle DBA, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of Oracle databases. Your role will involve ensuring the availability and optimal performance of database systems, managing database configurations, performing database backups, and providing support to development teams for database-related tasks.
- Database Installation, Configuration, and Upgrades: Install and configure Oracle Database software (specific versions if applicable); set up and configure Oracle instances, databases, and related services; perform database patching and upgrades.
- Database Administration: Manage and monitor database instances for performance and reliability; perform daily backups and restores to ensure data integrity and availability; implement high availability solutions like Oracle RAC and Data Guard; configure and manage database replication and clustering for load balancing and failover.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization: Monitor and optimize database and SQL query performance; analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks at both database and application levels; recommend and implement best practices for database design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Database Security Management: Enforce security policies, including user access controls and encryption; perform regular database audits for compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements; apply security patches and resolve vulnerabilities.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop, maintain, and test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies; troubleshoot and resolve backup and recovery issues to ensure data resilience.
- Database Monitoring and Reporting: Utilize monitoring tools to track database performance, health, and availability proactively; generate reports on performance metrics, growth trends, and other key data; respond to alerts and resolve database-related issues promptly.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Provide 24/7 support for critical production databases; troubleshoot and resolve incidents and performance issues efficiently; collaborate with application teams to address database-related problems impacting applications.
- Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with development teams to design, implement, and support database systems for new applications and features; ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Write and maintain documentation on database configurations, procedures, and best practices; actively participate in team meetings, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance team capability.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration (Oracle 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c, or higher).
- Strong experience with Oracle RDBMS architecture, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Oracle database tools such as SQL*Plus, RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and GoldenGate.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Experience in database monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, Cloud Control, etc.).
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent Oracle certifications preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based Oracle databases.
- Knowledge of automation and orchestration tools
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in the context of database deployment.
- Office/Remote/Hybrid work setup
- Flexibility for on-call support during nights or weekends as needed.
