The Staff Accountant will be a part of the Projects Accounting (Finance – Financial Shared Service) team and perform, analyze, and evaluate complex accounting activities to support the assigned business group(s). He/she will interact with various groups within the organization to achieve financial goals and continued development of accounting systems and plans. In addition to that, the staff accountant will be responsible for accurate and timely processing, calculating, and reporting.

Primary Functions

Ø  Projects Accounting

·       Reviewing project setup requests, associated required documentation and approvals for the requested projects, and setting up approved projects in the Oracle Project Accounting system module.

·       Reviewing documentation provided to justify the classification of costs as either capital or expense in accordance with ASC 985-20 and ASC 350-40.

·       Processing labor and related costs thru the system and reviewing and correcting errors that occur.

·       Updating the system for status changes in the project life cycle and making any required financials adjustments resulting from these status changes.

·       Coordinating with project managers regarding issues and questions that arise in the interpretation of ASC 985-20 and ASC 350-40.

·       Performing periodic reviews of projects and their status to determine if follow-up action needs to be taken with the project manager and/or if accounting accruals need to be made.

·       Assisting in special projects as needed.

Ø  General Ledger

·       Strong knowledge of financial principles and accounting practice.

·       3-4 years of General Ledger Experience, including preparation of complex reconciliations.

·       Must be able to perform complex calculations, understand accounting impact and implications of transactions and perform complex reconciliations of large volumes of data.

·       Must be able to quickly learn new systems technology, work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.

Experience/ Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree required in Finance or Accounting.

·       Advanced Excel skills preferred.

·       Familiarity with Oracle, OneStream, Micro Strategy and/or other related financial systems a plus.

·       Familiarity with Microsoft OneNote a plus.

·       Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple, concurrent tasks.

·       Must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills to articulate opinions, analysis and conclusions as well as possess a strong commitment to customer service excellence.

·       Strong interpersonal skills and must be able to build relationships and effectively interact with other departments to achieve shared goals.

·       Must be able to quickly learn new systems and work under pressure to adhere to strict deadlines.

·       Strong problem-solving skills.

·       Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
