Position Description

We are seeking a Sr. Platform Systems Admin to join our On-Demand team, to help build and maintain BMC’s cloud platform and solutions.

About the On-Demand Team

The BMC On-Demand team is a critical group in the design, architecture, configuration, maintenance and availability of our On-Demand product portfolio.  We work closely with our product teams, architecture and customers to provide the highest levels of availability, service and customer success. Being nice is a requirement and you will be working in a high-speed and collaborative team.

About the Job:

  • Support and maintain private and public cloud deployments on AWS, Azure, Oracle, GCP and other IAAS platforms
  • Work on a platform for monitoring, logging, and orchestration of applications running on Kubernetes and Rancher
  • Develop and maintain automation via Terraform and Ansible
  • Participate in Capacity and Performance Management, Data Centre Rollouts and Consolidation
  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations and features in business terms
  • Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner
  • Build bare metal and Virtual environments
  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis to address routine to moderately complex reporting issues with accuracy or performance
  • Support the implementation of new products, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software
  • Be a mentor to other team members for technologies that you are involved in
  • Be an escalation point for our Tier 2 teams
  • Participate and interact with our cloud vendors
  • Take part in 24/7 on-call rotation

Position Requirements:

About You

  • Ability to pass and obtain a US Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or 7+ years’ work experience
  • 2+ years of recent hands-on experience working with Kubernetes
  • Strong Knowledge & Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, and Terraform 
  • Work with Change & Incident Management Tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for interaction with a global team
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, normally receiving minimal instruction on day-to-work activities
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough evaluation
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Use skills and experience to identify and resolve a wide range of issues in practical and imaginative ways
  • Assess and communicate risks based on complexity, resource, and timeline constraints
  • Ability to work in cross functional teams and influence the outcome

If you know about the following it’s a plus

  • Experience deploying in AWS, Azure, Google and Oracle
  • BMC Products including Remedy, BPPM (Patrol), Bladelogic, End User Experience Manager (Coradiant)
  • Knowledge of monitoring technologies including agent, agentless, synthetic and real user
  • ITIL, MCSE, VCP, AWS Certifications, Agile methodologies are added advantage
