BMC is looking for a Software Engineer to join our amazing Innovation Labs team, responsible for developing the next generation of BMC’s products! Think of a startup type environment with the backing of a $2BN enterprise firm working on incubation style projects!
In this role, you’ll get a lot of responsibility and ownership, and will be able to make an impact on the software you build. We are a team of around 40 people right now that is split up into smaller incubations, each focusing on different areas.
So, if you’re thirsty to contribute across varying products, sometimes at the same time, while working on bleeding edge tech. If you swear that your only crime is that of curiosity. If you like innovation and versatility – our team is the place for you!
The team have worked on some fascinating projects to date including Edge / IoT, Augmented Reality and DataOps to name a few
How will your day-to-day look like?
- Design, create, and implement innovative cloud software, focusing on Backend development in Java, but also some Python and NodeJS
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automation of manual processes, data delivery optimization, infrastructure re-design for greater scalability, etc.
- Work closely with product managers and the wider Innovation Labs team to understand requirements, present options, and design solutions.
- Work with a distributed development team to perform requirements analysis, write design documents, design, develop and test software development projects.
- Analyze and present clearly the status of projects or issues along with risks and options to the stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience in Backend development
- Experience with Java and Python.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and understanding of the underlying Linux technology.
- Experience with various database paradigms (Relational / Key-Value / Graph etc.).
- Experience in Object-oriented modeling and design.
- Experience in Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of basic system design.
- Team player who can also work independently
- Self-unblocker with an innovative thinking and a can-do attitude
- Good communication skills in English (verbal & written)
Nice to have skills / things you will learn:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Experience in owning and maintaining at least 1 software module – either at previous work or open-source.
- Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with any of AWS / Google Cloud or Azure.
- Experience in message bus technologies such as Kafka, MQTT, ZeroMQ.
- Understanding of basic security concepts such as PKI, Encryption, Field Math.
- TDD mentality.
