The Value & Solution Engineering (VSE) Demo COE centralizes the creation, distribution and support of standardized, cataloged, value-based, customer-facing PreSales collateral, including tens of thousands of annual live solution demonstrations. Centralization leads to increasing expertise and scalability, and the identification of best practices for use by the entire Sales organization. Consumers of our content and services include internal BMC employees, partners and external customers. 

We are seeking best-in-industry professionals to complete our team of technical consultants and software engineers, content designers, and virtualization platform engineers. Our ideal candidate for this specific role will have significant technical DevOps and BMC solution experience. The new team member would be responsible for creating and supporting large, integrated demonstration environments on multiple deployment platforms.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Focus on Site Reliability Engineering principles to develop tools, automation, CI/CD pipeline to operationalize new BMC SaaS services specifically for demos and POCs.
Provide primary L1 support for DevOps-related issues escalated from customers within our demo platforms.
Learn and lead efforts to automate, via various scripting methods, the movement of vast amounts of demo data onto new tenant deployments
Conduct root cause analysis with the cross-functional teams after service disruptions to look for opportunities to improve, be proactive and prevent future disruptions.  Aftermath action will include product improvements, new observability capabilities, service delivery improvements, and process improvements
Ensure that reported issues are properly logged for later analysis and escalation to product development teams.
Work closely and regularly with the larger Demo COE team, providing subject matter expertise as they prioritize separate functions of demo product builds, recorded demo captures, product integration and support. 
Remove operational effort and errors by automating and applying development principles to operational practice
Lead efforts in development of entirely new SaaS Demo Platforms.
Solve new challenges of delivering cloud services to multi-cloud – use of AWS EKS, Azure AKS, Google, IBM, and Private Cloud.
The role crosses organizational boundaries to ensure goals are met with required collaborative expertise. You may be embedded in R&D and Operational teams to help deliver solutions for Cloud services – e.g., Common CI/CD pipelines, operationalizing new cloud services which require collaboration between Sales, VSE/PreSales, R&D, Support and Operations.
Transform legacy technology stacks to allow more cloud-native deployments and manageability.  Our technology stack is complex but evolving – and includes components suach as Kafka, Zookeeper, Cassandra, ActiveMQ, Postgres, Victoria metrics, MSSQL, EFK, Kubernetes (Rancher, Openshift, Upstream K8s, EKS, AKS), BMC Colo cloud, Public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud deployments.
Transform and Evolve the Observability of the Cloud stack to use industry-standard tools, open-source technologies and make it simple for Operations to determine the state of Cloud services and for DevOps/R&D to measure the quality of service. This will include developing and refactoring open-source tools like Jaeger, measure SLO/SLI, Service Mesh technologies, EFK, Persistent storage solutions to work with BMC’s cloud stack.
Participate in evaluating new technologies to solve business challenges in delivering a world-class SaaS Demo Service
Participate with Development and Operations teams to deliver new services that bring value to customers quickly as well as enabling BMC to operate, maintain and monitor with ease.  E.g., design deployment architecture, operational fabric, tools to support new service
Participate in designing migration solutions to take legacy BMC customers to cloud-native solutions with zero to minimal impact and speed.
Automate delivery of infrastructure as a service

Strong hands-on experience in the following:
o Kubernetes and Docker
o Scripting (Ansible, Shell, Python, etc)
o Jenkins, Spinnaker
o Monitoring Tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Network profiling, or other CNCF tools
o Distributed tracing experience with tools like Jaeger
o Log streaming experience with logstash, fluentbit to Elastic/Kibana

Experience with Rancher, RH Openshift is a benefit
Experience with AWS services like EC2, Aurora, RDS PostgreSQL, Networking, VPCs, Security Groups, Load Balancers, S3
Experience working with PostgreSQL
Experience with other Public Clouds (Azure, Google Cloud) is a benefit.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Team player with good communication and written skills.  Being able to conduct discussions across multiple teams and levels of seniority to drive SRE agenda
