Join Our Team as a Solution Engineer – Mainframe Presales

Location Flexible: Poland, Spain, Portugal, Ireland

Are you passionate about translating complex technical needs into innovative business solutions? Join our Mainframe Presales team as a Solution Engineer, where you'll collaborate closely with Sales and Presales teams to align customer initiatives with BMC’s cutting-edge solutions which bring DevOps to the IBM Z Mainframe.

Consult and Innovate: Partner with sales teams to analyse complex customer needs and craft tailored solutions that deliver both technical and business value.
Simplify and Communicate: Effectively translate technical concepts into clear, compelling messaging that can be easily articulated to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strategies and Support: Engage with customers to assess their current state, document key metrics, and contribute to business case development, ensuring sales teams are equipped with valuable insights.
Demonstrate Impact: Deliver engaging presentations, live demonstrations, and proof of concepts that highlight the customer value of BMC’s solutions.
Drive Innovation: Continuously seek new ways to solve challenges, push boundaries, and contribute to global projects that shape the future of enterprise technology.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

To set yourself up for success, you’ll bring the following skills and experience:

BMC Values – You express and embrace our core values in everything you do.
Mainframe Expertise – 5+ years of experience with IBM Z Mainframe in a presales or related technical role.
Solution Vision – Ability to conceptualize and articulate the "art of the possible" based on a client’s technical architecture.
Mainframe Development Expertise – Strong knowledge and experience with classic mainframe development solutions, including:

Source Code Management
File and Data Management
Fault Analysis & Interactive Debugging
Virtualized and Non-Virtualized Test Automation

Agile Methodology, CI/CD & DevOps Tools – Familiarity with Agile software development methodology, CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Azure, and modern IDEs.
Version Control & Collaboration – Solid understanding of Git and related technologies.
Mainframe & Database Knowledge – Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM Db2
Engaging Communication – Proven ability to craft and deliver compelling technical demonstrations.
Problem-Solving Mindset – Strong analytical skills with a solution-oriented approach.
Teamwork & Autonomy – Ability to thrive in both team-based and independent work environments.
Language Proficiency – Fluency in German & English is required.
Willingness to Travel – Up to 25% travel may be required.

Bonus Skills & Growth Opportunities

BMC AMI DevX Solutions – Familiarity with BMC Software’s AMI DevX products or equivalent technologies.
Enterprise Software Experience – Hands-on experience with Broadcom CA solutions or Micro Focus.
Performance Optimization – Knowledge of z/OS system performance tuning and application performance optimization.
AI & ML Integration – Exposure to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in mainframe environments is a strong advantage.

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is zł 150,000 - zł 250,000
