BMC Software is seeking a modern, customer-focused Lead / Principal Product Manager in the Digital Service and Operations Management (DSOM) business. This will be a critical role on the BMC Discovery product management team and will work closely with the engineering team to ensure successful delivery of innovative and differentiated product capabilities.
BMC Discovery continues to be the market leading product enabling customers to manage their IT assets and dependencies as they migrate to hybrid cloud environments and manage dynamic service models that support an AIOps-driven IT Operations Management strategy. The Discovery product is also a key component of the broader IT Operations Management portfolio and supports Service Management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the success of the Discovery product line and execution of the BMC DSOM ServiceOps strategy. This Lead/ Principal product manager will be responsible for all aspects of product management including helping define the vision and strategy for the product line, actively driving functional evolution of the product and roadmap, influencing cross-functional teams to execute on the strategy and achieve business
• This product manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful evolution of the product roadmap as customers evolve to multi-cloud hybrid discovery, adopt modern architectures and platforms including micro-services containerized as well as serverless paradigms.
• Accountable for delivering detailed requirements for new and existing end to end solution use cases based on subject matter expertise and deep understanding of the market from working closely with customers, analysts and business stakeholders. Experience with roadmap and product management tools such as Aha! Roadmap software.
• Act as the voice of the customer and drive the customer feedback from channels including workshops, BMC communities , customer request for enhancements (RFEs) and help prioritize and also close the communication loop with the customer.
• Implement product strategy to grow the Discovery business by prioritizing requirements and working with engineering to drive product roadmap – executing in an agile approach with monthly SaaS updates. Drive top-line growth by collaborating with others on the Discovery product management team, solutions marketing and enablement teams to execute on Go-To-Market priorities, establish accretive partnerships and ensure sales and channels are enabled to articulate differentiation.
• Collaborate with the broader product team to identify and support end to end cross-product solution use cases that our customers are looking for. Identify partners or strategic initiatives where required to execute on the end-to-end strategy.
• Understands customer workflow, as it relates to the relevant products, at a very deep level to translate market requirements to Product Development and the value proposition to downstream functions (marketing, sales, operations)
• Properly segments the market and creates specific solution strategies and tactics to address each segment's needs and requirements
• Conducts competitive analysis and market assessment for establishing go-to-market strategies that capitalize on market trends, customer needs and competitive positioning
• Communicates portfolio status and roadmap evolution to Lead management
• Builds effective relationships with the sales force, customers, partners, and internal departments and educates them on product features, benefits, and positioning.
• Supports the sales organization in strategic sales opportunities; participates in industry forums and standards groups to raise visibility of BMC Discovery and our solutions
Requirements:
• Strong software product management experience in enterprise software.
• Domain understanding and experience in the IT Operations Management space and ideally with IT Discovery and dependency mapping, service modeling, modern architectures and multiple cloud technologies
• Strong understanding and proven experience of agile development, working closely with and influencing engineering teams and ensuring predictable SaaS delivery
• Passion for engaging with customers and understanding their problems
• Experience with complex sales processes, working with sales and presales staff
• Experience collaborating with marketing teams to ensure clear internal & external messaging
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience presenting to cross-functional and Lead stakeholders
