Position Description:
 
BMC Is looking for a Serverless Engineer to join our growing Innovation Labs team. The individual will be responsible for developing solutions that expand and optimize customer’s data pipeline architecture, as well as optimize data flow and collection for cross functional teams. 

As an engineer on the Serverless team, you’ll help set the industry-standard for serverless monitoring tools, partnering with teams across BMC working on metrics, distributed tracing and logs analytics.


Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Planning, designing and developing serverless-based applications.
  • Experience with managing cloud and serverless-based application environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Deploying and debugging serverless application services as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Educating teams on the implementation of new serverless-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Building and designing web services / microservices in the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services.
  • Building and maintaining tools, solutions and microservices associated with deployment and our operations platform, ensuring that all meet our customer service standards and reduce errors.
  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production, catching and solving issues before launch.

Must-have experience/criteria:
  • Understanding of deploying and managing cloud-based applications that leverage serverless technologies
  • Experience with common web services, technologies, architectures and related practices to make them reliable including AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, etc.
  • Experience with database query authoring with relational SQL and NoSQL databases including Postgres, MySQL, S3, Cassandra, Redis, Mongo, etc.
  • You have significant experience with Python, Go, or Java
  • Experience in microservice development using Container technology such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm Charts, etc.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, and public cloud services such AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Nice to have experience/criteria
  • Technical experience in developing and releasing enterprise solutions to market 
  • You've worked at high scale with systems like Cassandra, or Kafka
  • You’ve built and monitored a serverless application
  • Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines including use of Jenkins and GitHub
