Position Description:

We are looking BMC Is looking for a Principal Data Engineering Lead to head up our Innovation Labs team in Israel. The individual will be responsible for developing solutions that expand and optimize customer’s data pipeline architecture, as well as optimize data flow and collection for cross functional teams. You will have both hands off and hands on responsibilities, you will be acting as both Tech Lead and Team Lead (will manage between 3-5 people initially),

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizing and generating infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analysed.
  • Assist in the migration of Database platforms
  • Create data pipelines for batch, micro-batch, and real-time data streams.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
  • Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.

Must-have experience/criteria for role:
  • An ability to manage a small team of engineers who will be based locally in Israel. 
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL / NoSQL Databases (such as Postgres / Cassandra)
  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets (ideally using tools such as Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc).
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.
  • Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
  • Experience working with one of the large cloud providers (AWS / Google Cloud / Azure)

Nice to have’s
  • Experience working in a multinational corporation and proven success at leveraging a variety of resource groups on behalf of the business. 
  • Extensive understanding of the ITSM/ITOM market
  • Any experience with BMC products (especially related to Control-M)
  • Technical experience in developing and releasing enterprise solutions to market
