Position Description:

The Innovation Labs at BMC is looking for a Principal SaaS / DevOps Engineer to join our growing Innovation Labs team. The individual will be responsible for developing solutions that expand and optimize customer’s data pipeline architecture, as well as optimize data flow and collection for cross functional teams. 
 
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, designing and developing cloud-based applications.
  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives
  • Building and designing web services / microservices in the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services.
  • Building and maintaining tools, solutions and microservices associated with deployment and our operations platform, ensuring that all meet our customer service standards and reduce errors.
  • Deploy product updates as required while implementing integrations when they arise.
  • Automate our operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements.
  • Manage code deployments, fixes, updates and related processes.
  • Work with CI and CD tools, and source control such as GIT and SVN.


Must-have experience/criteria:

  • Familiar with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
  • Demonstrable experience working with either AWS / Google Cloud / Azure
  • Experience with various modern programming languages such as Python, Java, Golang, Node.js etc. Also experience in REST API development including JSON and XML
  • SQL and NoSQL databases knowledge
  • Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines / Jenkins and GitHub
  • Experience in microservice development using Container technology such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm Charts, etc.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructure / Linux/Unix administration
  • Experience in working with Puppet or Chef for automation and configuration.

Nice to have experience 
  • Understanding of the ITSM/ITOM market is a plus
  • Technical experience in developing and releasing enterprise solutions to market 
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
  • Experience with security best practices regarding SSO, certificate mgmt., encryption, etc.
  • Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering.
