- Engaging with the BMC Account Team and Partners to participate in sales calls with customers to help manage technical requirements and simplify the needs and actions.
- Identifying and developing innovative solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Delivering and customizing technical presentations on BMC Solutions.
- Explaining the value of BMC Solutions to customers with associated use cases, required capabilities, and differentiation.
- Focusing on large or intricate sales opportunities with complex customer needs.
- Writing success criteria for customer solution validation. Configure optimal solutions for the customer’s needs and manages the process to ensure success, communicating progress both to the customer and to the sales account management team.
- Provide demonstrations and presentations for BMC Webinars and Tradeshows/Marketing Events.
- Reviews RFP requirements from customers with sales and clients to establish the right solution and be consultative on whether to bid.
- The Solutions Engineer will be accomplished in such a Presales Consultant or similar role, such as systems programmer across a range of z/OS technologies.
- Have the capacity to work un-supervised and travel as required
- Possess the ability to communicate technical and business information to a varied audience (technical and non-technical customers), with strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Be technically astute with a good understanding of IBM z/OS Systems Monitoring and Automation products, including the ability to install, customise and demonstrate the BMC solutions MainView / AMI Ops (or competitive solutions: SysView /IBM Omegamon)
- The ability to take a value based consultative approach, to adapt and articulate the value of our solution to address the customer’s challenges at technical and managerial levels.
- Ability to develop a broad awareness of the client's technical architecture and emerging technologies with enough knowledge to determine what is and is not possible.
- Analyse customer needs through research and troubleshooting followed with recommending a solution.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical ability.
- Experience in enterprise-type software consulting, support, or training experience a major plus.
- 3+ years z/OS systems or major subsystem, in any of the following (z/OS, CICS, Db2, MQ, JAVA, STORAGE) experience.
- Must demonstrate a proficiency in coding and modifying JCL
- Proficient in the use of standard IBM utilities
- Knowledge of SMP/E
- Advantageous:
- 2+ years sales or technical sales experience.
- Knowledge of System Performance and Capacity Planning, a plus
- Experience with IBM Omegamon a plus
- Experience with CA-SYSVIEW a plus
- Ability to understand and write REXX coding a plus
