Description and Requirements

The R&D Mainframe Operations Manager reports to the Director of Common Services and works directly with the Release Engineering and Technical Services managers. The role includes managing all daily activities of a team of IT administrators including monitoring, tracking, reporting, and problem resolution for mainframe systems, security, and customer facing product & maintenance delivery.  This includes automation activities and optimizing the team’s 24x7 incident response and post-mortem/Root Cause analysis activities.

This role has a particular focus of staff career development.  A major objective of this team is to develop new in career staff for opportunities throughout the IZOT organization. It is essential that this role seek out and identify potential opportunities.

  • Minimum 5 years IT/R&D leadership, Strategic planning, Project Lead, or Project Manager
  • Positive management and leadership style that empowers others to want to do great things.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork. Proven coaching, mentoring, and team-building skills.
  • Proven leadership, performance management, career development, planning, execution, scheduling, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with global and culturally diverse departments and groups.

  • BMC IZOT product awareness, with AMI OPS knowledge being highly desirable.
  • Ability to mentor team members on new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to address difficult issues, make tough decisions, and communicate constructive feedback.
  • Strong ability to acquire, synthesize, and present technical information using a variety of effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to become proficient with the products your team works with.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively present ideas in a variety of presentation media.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence desirable.
