Title: Lead Information Developer 
Location: Pune/Bangalore 

BU/Product Description:  
The BMC DSOM (Digital Services and Operations Management) IDD (Information Design and Development) team is a global team of 50+ writers well supported by Information Architects, Specialists, and Editors. Our team creates technical documentation in the form of online documentation, videos, in-app walkthroughs, and graphics for the users of BMC products. We typically serve a technical audience from the IT departments of large enterprise customers. As Senior Lead Information Developer, you will be making a positive impact on customers, grow your career, and have a lot of fun!    

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:  
  • You will be a leading a team of writers to deliver documentation for a product or set of products. Guide the team to take ownership of their assigned deliverables, including estimation, planning, tracking, while you provide overall project management 
  • You will be performing competitive analysis and regular metrics review to draw meaningful and actionable insights 
  • You will contribute as a writer by analyzing the requirements and developing high-quality, findable, and accessible technical content  
  • Be a role model for the team in the aspects of time management, interpersonal relationships, and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction 
  • Mentor and coach junior writers 
  • Work with reviewers and editors to ensure that content is technically accurate, appropriate for the intended audience, and consistent with BMC product documentation standards. 
  • Make recommendations to improve technical information based on the needs of the target audience. Make recommendations to improve the content model, style, and structural elements of BMC documentation.  
  • Initiate and recommend creative and innovative new ways to improve technical information deliverables and processes.  
  • Understand customer issues and documentation usage through metrics, comments on documentation, and other customer feedback channels.  
  • Respond to customer comments and feedback on the assigned documentation within SLAs and enable the team to do so for the assigned areas. 
  • Balance work volume and quality, and appropriately escalate potential risks and issues to management.  
Required Skills:  

  • Ten to twelve years of experience of creating technical documentation for enterprise software users, system administrators, and other technical audiences in a software product development organization 
  • Three to four years of experience in planning, tracking and supervising technical documentation projects   
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and presentation skills 
  • Ability to quickly understand complex concepts present them in a simple, clear, and concise manner  
  • Proficient with any of the industry-standard authoring tools and video editing tools 
  • Excellent analytical, English, technical writing, visualization, collaboration, and follow-up skills 
  • A strong understanding of the documentation development processes and quality measures 
  • Exposure to agile development practices, tools, and terminology 
  • Ability to handle multiple work tracks simultaneously and stay focused in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment 
  • Ability to swiftly unlearn old practices, adapt to change, and zeal for continuous learning 
  • Ability to operate from a position of empathy and high emotional intelligence 

Desired (Nice-To-Have) Skills: 
  • Experience in creating developer documentation such as API documentation 
  • Exposure to Confluence wiki as an authoring tool 
  • Exposure to IT service and operations management basics 
  • Software development experience or training
