BMC’s SaaS Ops team is looking for a Lead Devops Engineer for the Cloud Services team.  The team is responsible for deploying infrastructure platform in public, private, and hybrid Clouds.  The Cloud Services team responsibilities include architecting, maintaining and supporting all new data center deployments, as well as maintaining Kubernetes and Rancher.

 

Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

  • Support and maintain private and public cloud deployments on AWS, Google, Oracle and other IAAS platforms.
  • Maintain and Support all platform deployment software, including K8s, Rancher, OKE, GKE, and EKS.
  • Develop and maintain automation via Terraform, Jenkins, and Ansible.
  • Experience with writing code in the following is a plus: GO and Python
  • Deploy data center environments on both bare metal, virtual instances, and cloud instances.
  • Provide help with architectural design for Capacity and Performance Management, Data Center Rollouts and Consolidation.

To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a DevOps/SRE role, with a proven track record as a Tech Lead.
  • Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; relevant certifications (ITIL, MCSE, VCP, AWS, GCP, OCI) are a plus.
  • Strong expertise in Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Rancher with hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines following best practices.
  • Proficient in cloud service deployments across AWS, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud, as well as experience with Azure.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and project management tools (JIRA).
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and practices, utilizing tools like Terraform and Cloud Formation.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with global teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of evaluating diverse issues and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and communicate risks considering complexity, resource allocation, and timeline constraints.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being an effective team player who can influence outcomes positively.


Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, etc.) and SRE practices.
  • Experience in microservices, database, and API implementation.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and automation playbooks.

Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. 

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $109,725 - $182,875
