BMC Software are seeking a talented Lead Database Admin to join our growing team. This role will involve working with BMCs growing federal customer base and as such, we are looking for someone who ideally has an active Secret level clearance. If you don’t have Secret clearance (or higher) but meet clearance eligibility requirements, please still apply. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • DBA focused on day to day production operational tasks, database administration and automation of database services & solutions
  • Primarily working with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL database administration
  • Secondarily working with Casandra, MongoDB and MySQL
  • Support OLTP and OLAP applications
  • Provide proactive tuning and capacity optimization of databases supporting BMC Helix products & services
  • Drive & support automation and compliance efforts of database solutions & associated technologies
  • Work with peer DBAs and other peer teams as a subject matter expert on specified database solutions & associated technologies
  • Support BCP & DR activities of database technologies including database backups/recovery
  • Work with product teams and make recommendations on SQL & NOSQL engineering
  • Take part in 24/7 on-call rotations and shift rotations as required

Requirements (must have):

  • The ability to get security clearance within a reasonable timeframe
  • Expert knowledge & experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience working with physical, virtual, AWS (RDS & Aurora) and AZURE (MI & Hyperscale) database environments
  • Experience working with database technology high-availability solutions (SQL Server Logshipping/Mirroring/AlwaysON/Clustering, PostgreSQL Replication/Clustering)
  • Experience working with database scripting using T-SQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL
  • Experience working with performance analysis & tuning of database applications or other similar OLTP/OLAP applications
  • Adept at working with product teams on database best practices

Requirements (nice to have):
  • Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Good understanding of Compliance & Governance, Change Control, Security and Security practices
  • Experience working with peer DBAs and global teams located across the globe in different time zones
  • Secret / Top Secret / TS/SCI level clearance
