BU Description:
The Service Management Office provides a business-centric view of BMC's IT services delivery and automation. We are committed to IT value realization with an accent on best practices, performance measurement, and continuous improvement of IT services management processes.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
The Configuration Manager shall be primarily responsible for the configuration management of the BMC IT CMDB. This responsibility will include planning, developing, documenting, and executing a configuration management system for all changes that affect the operational baseline to include documentation of requirements and configuration items in operations and those under development from the conception phase through delivery. 

Responsibilities:
Implements the organization’s Configuration Management policy and standards.
Evaluates existing Configuration Management Systems and the design, implementation, and management of new/improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness, including estimating and planning the work and resources involved, and monitoring and reporting on progress against plan.
Agrees scope of the Configuration Management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded; develops Configuration Management standards, Configuration Management Plans, and procedures.
Mounts an awareness campaign to win support for new Configuration Management procedures; ensures that changes to the Configuration Management methods and processes are properly approved and communicated to staff before being implemented; plans, publicizes and oversees implementation of new Configuration Management Systems.
Manages the evaluation of proprietary Configuration Management tools and recommends those that best meet the organization’s budget, resource, timescale, and technical requirements.
Manages the Configuration Management Plan, principles and processes and their implementation.
Ensures that staff comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases, and temples.
Proposes and/or agrees interfaces with Change Management, Problem Management, Network Management, Release Management, Computer Operations, logistics, finance, and administration functions.
Plans population of the CMS; manages CMS, central libraries, tools, common codes, and data; ensures regular housekeeping of the CMS.
Provides reports, including management reports (indicating suggested action to deal with current or foreseen shortcomings), impact analysis reports and configuration status reports.
Assists auditors to audit the activities of the Configuration Management team for compliance with laid-down procedures; ensure corrective action is carried out.

Experience/ Qualifications:
Basic understanding of IT functions, services, and responsibilities within a Fortune 500 sized company with global business operations, typically developed through 10+ years of practical IT experience.  
Prior experience in Configuration Management is essential; 5+ years of experience in this role is highly desirable.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across the engineering, operations and application development groups that exist in most IT organizations.  Sufficiently mature and self-confident to address organizational issues/conflicts in a proactive but professional manner.  
The incumbent must be able to establish organizational discipline around Configuration Management practices that yields clear and obvious benefits without imposing undue bureaucracy upon IT managers and staff members.
Familiarity with ITIL v3 or v4 as demonstrated through formal training and/or certification or through practical experience in developing and/or implementing ITIL v3 compliant processes.
Demonstrates awareness of the business priorities, objectives, and business drivers.
Practical experience with information technology infrastructure operations and service management.
Practical experience of process management and continuous improvement methods and techniques.
Demonstrates awareness of the business priorities, objectives, and business drivers.
Demonstrates awareness of the role IT plays in enabling the business objectives to be met.
Has an awareness of what IT can deliver to the business, including the latest capabilities.
Demonstrates competence, knowledge and information that is necessary to complete their role effectively.
Uses, understands, and interprets the best practice, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence.
Demonstrates leadership skills, especially from the overall control of the process.
Has exceptional organizational and communications skills.
Can articulate all information regarding Configuration Management in both written and verbal form.
 Must have demonstrated experience in this area.
Prior experience in working with both internal and external business units is critical to success.  Must have demonstrated experience in this area. 
Should be willing to work in noon shifts - 12.30PM to 9.30PM IST

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is INR 2,486,550 - INR 4,144,250.
