The Lead Accountant- Helix Latin America Accounting will be primarily responsible for supporting the local statutory and US GAAP accounting for the Latin America region.  This role reports directly to the Manager- Helix Latin America Accounting, will work regularly with individuals in the global shared services team in Pune, India, and will interact with various groups within the organization, including international teams, to achieve financial goals and continued development of accounting systems and policies. Additionally, this role will be responsible for accurate and timely processing, calculating, and reporting on various items, including, but not limited to, the following:


  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly US GAAP close process for the Latin America region, ensuring that accounts are maintained accurately in accordance with US GAAP,
  • Support the Manager with meeting corporate deadlines and reporting requirements, analyzing results, and while adhering to quality control.
  • Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries related to month end close.
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliation as assigned by the Manager.
  • Complete an in-depth review of trial balances and perform variance analysis of balance sheet and income statements to identify potential adjustments and/or corrections.
  • Assist with annual statutory accounts filing process for certain entities across Latin America, including supporting the Manager with coordinating with audit firms, legal and tax providers, and company directors for completion of the filing process.
  • Awareness of updates of local accounting, tax, and US GAAP requirements and integrate these into the daily accounting processes, ensuring compliance where required.
  • Support monthly and quarterly processes related to SOX compliance for the region and its entities.
  • Interface with Corporate internal audit and assist Management to assess controls and procedures as they relate to the region and recommend and implement changes where required.
  • Calculate and/or review entity-level accounting for compliance with the various group intercompany agreements.
  • Prepare and review documentation for statutory (or any other type of) audits.
  • Support the Manager with priorities and managing risks identified for the region and its entities.
  • Work closely with the other departments and global accounting team members to support cash and entity profitability forecasting.
  • Assist with other projects and ad-hoc requests as required to support the Manager and the regional accounting and business requirements, including,
  • New system implementation,
  • Working capital forecasting,
  • Establishing relations with external suppliers, consultants and service providers,


  • Experience in corporate/regional accounting and financial controls in a public company environment or public accounting firm.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English and Portuguese and/or Spanish, as the position requires regular partnering with Company executives and others across multiple corporate functions and regions, as well as third-party service providers.
  • Experience with global ERP systems, Oracle, OneStream, MicroStrategy is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems technology, multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment within strict
  • deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of financial principles including local requirements and US GAAP.
  • Must be a team player willing to support others to achieve the Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Hands one approach is must 
  • Education/Training Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an international environment, working for a U.S. headquartered multinational company. 
  • CPA (or equivalent certification) is a plus.
