This pivotal position requires a blend of technical mastery, operational excellence, and inspiring leadership to oversee large-scale database operations, optimize infrastructure performance, and drive automation and innovation across cloud, on-premise, and colo-hosted environments. With a focus on fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, the ideal candidate will lead global teams in the US and overseas and enable the organization to achieve its business goals through data-driven strategies

 Primary Role & Responsibilities:

·         Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for database capacity management ensuring scalability, modernization, and automation across Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud-native databases (Aurora, Redshift).

·         Oversee the maintenance and management of a large-scale database infrastructure, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.

·         Lead performance tuning efforts to reduce query latency, optimize storage, and increase system throughput.

·         Drive multi-cloud infrastructure strategies, leveraging AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms for database hosting, analytics, and automation.

·         Spearhead the adoption of containerized database solutions, such as PostgreSQL in Kubernetes, to enhance deployment agility, system scalability and cost optimization.

·         Manage the transition of legacy environments to cloud-native architectures, incorporating cutting-edge technologies like Terraform and Ansible.

·         Lead the integration of DevOps methodologies into database operations, emphasizing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline deployment processes and improve time-to-market for database updates and features.

·         Ensure compliance with global regulatory standards, database security protocols, ensuring proper access controls, monitoring and auditing in all database environments.

·         Develop and enforce data governance frameworks to maintain data quality, security, and accessibility.

·         Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing global teams of database engineers, administrators, and operational staff.

·         Drive a culture of innovation, continuous learning ensuring alignment with organizational values and objectives.

·         Act as Incident Commander for high-severity (Sev1) database incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and thorough post-mortem analysis.

·         Monitor and optimize key performance metrics, reducing MTTR and increasing MTBF through proactive and reactive measures.

·         Lead the initiative to develop and maintain up-to-data database documentation for configurations, processes and workflows.

 Skills & Qualifications:

·         10+ years’ experience in database management with database platforms including PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases.

·         8+ years’ experience leading blended employee/contractor organizations.

·         5+ years’ experience leading data organizations with a proven track record of deploying and managing cloud-native database environments on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
