Challenge yourself as part of a dynamic, fast-paced finance team and join BMC Software!  We are currently hiring a Director of Finance with experience supporting Professional Services and Customer Success within a software company or experience working for a SaaS organization.

This exciting role is part of a collaborative group where people are willing to step out of their roles to help others.  The finance team members at BMC serve as trusted finance advisors to the business group and have responsibility for budgeting, expense management, forecasting, and business analysis.  In this role you will manage a global team of four resources in supporting the Customer Success organization which includes Professional Services, Customer Support, Customer Experience, and our Customer Success Management team.  With customer centricity being a core BMC strategic initiative, in this position you will be involved with the business to develop long-range business and financial plans, along with the annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and quarter-end deliverables.  Along the way you will share valued business insights to help guide the organization on key decisions, strategic initiatives, and myriad trade-offs.


Responsibilities
  • Partner with our Chief Customer Officer as an unbiased voice to the executive team aiming to improve financial and business outcomes
  • Create well-informed budgets for the business including, but not limited to, preparing complex demand and capacity models for the Professional Services organization
  • Lead a zero-based budgeting exercise across a multimillion-dollar expense organization with over 1,500 employees
  • Measure and forecast a variable cost organization with global delivery dynamics unique to local markets including language barriers, foreign currencies, and subcontractor availability
  • Simplify and communicate complex financial information to business partners including adapting nomenclature familiar to the Professional Services industry:  Daily Rates, Utilization Rates, Backlog, Subcontractor Mix, etc
  • Measure and report Customer Success metrics including GRR and NRR
  • Analyze trends to reduce financial risks associated with making investments and spending decisions
  • Offer advice to finance and business leaders regarding both the performance and outlook of the business
  • Develop executive communications for key business leaders that provide a business narrative in a financial context, supported by data

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Finance or Accounting concentration preferred; MBA considered a plus
  • Excellent analytical and financial management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both finance professionals and business partners alike (written and verbal)
  • Strong people-management skills with a passion to develop, motivate, and empower others
  • Robust knowledge of financial principles and accounting / budgeting practices
  • Understanding of business intelligence and financial planning software
  • Extensive experience with core finance business processes to ensure timely delivery of financial results including quarterly business reviews, financial close processes, SOX controls, and audit readiness
