BMC is a KKR-backed Enterprise software company looking for a high caliber corporate strategy leader to join our Corporate Initiatives (CI) team. In this role, you will work closely with BMC executives and team members to define and deliver BMC’s most critical strategic initiatives. This role offers exposure to strategic topics across the full breadth of our business and the opportunity to partner with senior executives in executing their change agenda. In this role you’ll be a leader within the CI team and will play an integral role in setting the long-term direction of BMC.

Corporate Initiatives is an in-house strategic advisory and execution team working directly on behalf the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. We work on a variety board-level strategic initiatives and programs as part of a multi-year growth transformation under private ownership. The team’s core mandates are:
Corporate strategy and roadmap definition: Lead the annual strategic planning process to define the three-year strategic and financial outlook for BMC globally as well as for our core business units, incl. market analysis, portfolio analysis, corporate strategy, and consolidated financial outlook
Corporate strategic priority execution: Partner with BMC leadership and provide structure, analytics, and coordination to drive the execution of BMC’s highest priority corporate strategic initiatives. Examples of past high-impact projects include indirect go-to-market (GTM) strategy, real estate portfolio, customer journey and experience, transition to a subscription model, and SaaS operations
Transformation leadership: Set the standard for efficient and effective execution of a long-term, large cross-functional transformation program across the BMC organization, relying on a well-balanced mix of analytics, program management skills, and emotional intelligence to affect change
Talent development: Attract and develop high potential talent that is exposed to a wide variety of problems across the breadth of BMC and is comfortable challenging the status quo

About the role:

As a leader within the Corporate Initiatives team, the successful candidate will:
Play a leading role in structuring and driving BMC’s annual strategic business review and planning processes, supporting the strategy development for BMC corporate and its business units
Manage two direct reports within the Corporate Initiatives team and coach other cross-functional team members, looking for ways to empower and train our team on a variety of hard and soft leadership skills 
Lead the planning, structuring, and execution of BMC’s most critical corporate strategic priorities, working closely with business units, functions, and senior executives
Guide research and data analysis as inputs to strategic decision-making impacting customer focus, product portfolio, go-to-market strategies, and corporate business models
Own acquisition integration projects, realizing the maximum value from our M&A strategy
Manage projects that require cross-functional collaboration; set deadlines; assign responsibilities; monitor and summarize progress; research requirements; recruit support as necessary and provide proposals on action plan, including success criteria and measurements
Develop, analyze, and prepare information for presentation to senior level executives and the Board
Challenge the status quo in a trusted advisor capacity for senior leadership

About the ideal candidate:

Curious by nature, you have a foundation in strategy or management consulting, investment banking, or private equity. Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills are essential. You are looking to apply these skills in a setting where you will be responsible for demonstrating impact and results and owning high-visibility projects and programs from inception to completion. You are a team player capable of influencing and motivating people at all levels of the organization. As an independent thinker, you thrive in tackling ambiguous problems – translating them into actionable plans and solving them using internal and external data and facts. You are comfortable communicating with senior level executives and delivering presentations. In addition, you can see the big picture by considering the global impacts of actions and decisions that may be taken.

6-10 years’ experience in corporate strategy, consulting, private equity, or tech strategy/operations function; experience in tech / software / SaaS a plus
Ability to lead and manage a cross-functional project team and CI team members, proven experience in coaching and developing high-performing team members
Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives, hitting goals, and succeeding in a team environment
Outstanding communication skills; confidence in presenting to senior executives
Strong background in conceptual problem solving and executing against ambiguous questions
BA/BS degree in business, science, engineering or similar discipline preferred; MBA, MA, or other graduate degree a plus 
Willingness to travel ~10% of the time
