Description and Requirements

BMC is seeking a passionate customer-focused individual to serve as VP Solution Marketing, for the BMC Intelligent Z Optimization and Transformation business (IZOT). This role is a key member of the senior leadership team and will be responsible for leading the marketing strategy for the BMC IZOT business. We are looking for a leader who has experience in strategic positioning, capitalizing on markets and technology trends like AIOPs, DevOps, SecOps, AI, Machine Learning, and Mainframe Modernization while bringing a good balance of technical credibility and business acumen. 

The marketing leader will have responsibility for developing and executing the strategic messaging for the entire BMC’s mainframe portfolio of products that compete in the AppDev/DevOps, ITOM, Security and Storage markets. The marketing leader will create and execute a multi-dimensional marketing plan to engage with traditional BMC customer bases as well as emerging new personas. The marketing leader will play an instrumental role in delivering growth, expansion, and innovation over the next three to five years.

Specific Responsibilities 
The AVP Solution Marketing will:
  • Create a “buzz” in the marketplace, telling the BMC AMI story, lifting the positive sentiment of the brand, educating the customer base, and redefining the market
  • Champion our customers in their journey to become an Autonomous Digital Enterprise and tie our solutions success to customer KPI’s
  • Champion the product, solutions and services marketing strategy, customer segmentation and messaging in order to help drive significant profitable growth
  • Effectively and authentically support BMC’s market leadership position by amplifying the voice of the customer throughout marketing channels
  • Develop a solution and product marketing messaging framework that feeds into enablement materials for cross/sell and up/sell opportunities within existing accounts with a focus on expanding footprint at existing customers
  • Initiate and leverage research to help influence strategy, positioning and messaging
  • Work with the General Manager of the business and other key executive leaders to define and deliver on key business initiatives
  • Drive an effective communication plan to ensure the full team is aware and aligned with strategy, priorities and the execution plans
  • Develop and maintain appropriate metrics to monitor and assess operational efficiency and business performance
  • Collaborate and influence cross-functionally to align Marketing with Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Customer Support, Pre-Sales and Services
The Person
Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of professional experience and will have a successful track record of leading and managing a sizeable product and/or solution marketing team within a well-regarded and branded company or companies.  

Specific experiences will include:
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to make teams stronger and more successful
  • Empathetic leader who builds trust with their teams and network, who coaches and empowers team members to focus on desired outcomes and getting it right vs being right
  • A strong focus on execution. This individual must be strategic and creative, but strong execution capabilities are critical for success. Success will be judged on what is accomplished and delivered, not what is proposed
  • Proven experience and success in Product/Solution Marketing. Additional experience in Product Management and/or Product Strategy is a plus
  • Proven experience in leveraging a variety of marketing channels and methods such as AR, PR, online, social, in-person meet ups and events, etc
  • Proven experience in marketing and communicating to a variety of customer personas, including CIO, senior IT leaders, DevOps leads and practioners, developers, line-of-business leaders
  • Proven experience in marketing to partner communities: resellers, global systems integrators, regional partners
  • Analysis of the market, go-to-market plan development, storytelling, message creation and content creation are essential in this position
  • Strategic Analytical skills, excellent communication, presentation creation and writing skills will be necessary. The ability and desire to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization, persuading people with your passion is essential
  • An executive with deep domain experience in one or more areas is preferred including but not limited to DevOps, ITOM, Security, Big Data, Machine Learning and/or Storage.
  • Analytical and data driven approach to the function with the ability to measure success and identify industry and market opportunities
  • Ability to develop a shared vision with solutions/product strategic leaders and sales leaders
