Description and Requirements

As the AVP of Operations, you will report to the Sr VP – Operations and be responsible for leading operational activities and strategic initiatives within the Product Line Strategic organization. The individual contributor in this role will bring their experience managing operations to one of the most exciting times at BMC’s forty-year company history. 

The success of this team is a critical part of BMC’s overall success.

 

Specific Responsibilities

•            Deliver Operational Excellence – Lead operational cadence including staff meetings, strategic planning, zero-based budgeting, BMC executive leadership/Board updates, team communications, and metrics and operational reporting.

•            Drive Strategic Transformation – Support key innovation projects: provide program management support to ensure strategic alignment, key stakeholder engagement, and successful execution for corporate strategy/M&A/post-merger acquisition, product incubation, and commercialization projects.

•            Accelerate BMC Productivity – Identify, prioritize, and lead opportunities to streamline processes. Manage project portfolio to ensure successful delivery of organizational objectives under agreed timelines.

•            Increase Customer Success – Support customer engagement in design partnerships, prototyping, and alpha/beta testing of incubation projects.

•            Promotes a culture of autonomy, transparency, and teamwork, while remaining customer focused. 

•            Empowers people through the definition of clear goals and objectives, holding them accountable for their achievement. 

•            Establishes close working relationships with BMC executives, colleagues, customers, and partners. Leads through influence.

•            Adept at analyzing complex systems and identifying novel, innovative approaches to solving difficult problems. 

•            Completes projects and tasks on time, on target, and on budget. Exhibits responsiveness and willingness to “go the extra mile” to achieve important goals.

•            Maintains calmness and composure in the face of intense workloads and time pressures. Adheres to workplace procedures and policies in an ethical fashion. 

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of professional experience and will have a successful track record of managing business operations at a global enterprise.  

Key to success in this role will be a knowledge of operations in the software industry. A background in cloud-native technologies is ideal.

•            Experience working as an operational leader in a SaaS-focused software company, ideally transitioning from an on-premises software solution to a SaaS/subscription model.

•            Strong operational background with an understanding of financial analysis. 

•            Experience with modern software development and delivery is preferred (e.g. agile software development, microservices architecture, container management, AI/ML, serverless computing, edge computing).

•            A strong focus on execution.  This individual must be strategic and creative but strong execution capabilities are critical for success.  Success will be judged on what is accomplished and delivered not what is proposed.

•            Demonstrated experience in leading global cross-functional operational initiatives. Proven track record of driving change and leading change management.

•            Strategic analytical skills, excellent communication, presentation creation, and writing skills will be necessary.  

•            The ability and desire to work effectively in a global, matrix organization, and persuade people with passion and influence is essential. 

•            Data driven approach to decision making and measurement.

•            BS/BA degree required. MBA degree preferred.
