BMC is looking for an Assembler Developer to join our amazing Intelligent z Optimization & Transformation team (IZOT)!

In this role, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end software development – designing, developing, and debugging complex Mainframe products using Assembler and z/OS.

You will handle complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors, and exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Responsibilities:
  • Define functional specifications for program modules and accurately estimate development effort, ensuring high-quality, maintainable solutions that align with product delivery schedules
  • Mentor earlier career staff.
  • Develop, test, and maintain product code in accordance with BMC quality standards, including unit testing, and support system and integration testing to ensure a high-quality product.
  • Maintain knowledge of product environments and applicable software technologies and provide complete documentation in the form of commented code, problem status information, and design documents. 
  • Perform thorough problem analysis that results in resolution of product-related problems according to BMC support standards. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams – conduct and participate in team code (and other artifact) reviews, collaborate with QA teams to deliver quality products, support teams in customer specific escalations, provide input on product documentation to Technical Writers, etc.
  • Participate in customer interactions when required 
  • Manage expectations through clear issue management.

Requirements:
  • 8+ years’ experience developing mainframe products using Assembler language
  • Hands-on z/OS experience, including building, customizing, or maintaining applications, tools, or system-level components on z/OS.
  • Db2 z/OS expertise, specifically Db2 SQL Performance 
  • Product knowledge of the SQL Performance/APPTUNE for Db2 product or equivalent products

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. 

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $102,150 - $170,250
