BMC is seeking an experienced Assembler Developer to join the IMS Data Management R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and debugging of software products under the guidance of experts.
The IZOT IMS Data Management R&D team is involved in the development and maintenance of world class solutions that help the biggest global organizations across all major domains in efficiently managing their IMS environment which hold humongous amounts of data and manage their workloads to keep their business applications available, scalable, and reliable.
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Developer to join our team. We are looking for a developer who can think big and apply the design thinking process to tackle longstanding challenges in delivering simple, elegant solutions to complex, technology-focused needs for large organizations. The role requires a good knowledge of product domain, the Agile software development methodology and the process involved in product development and maintenance.
In this role, you will:
- Drive user-centered design solutions that deliver value and improve experiences to millions of users.
- Use design and analysis tools to define problem statements and drive solutions.
- Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- Accurately estimate the size and scope of the development effort of projects.
- Work closely with cross-functional/multi-disciplinary teams including software architects, developers, quality analysts and product managers to iteratively design and develop solutions for our products.
- Interact with customers and end users to better understand their needs and translating those needs into innovative solutions.
- 3 to 8 years of experience designing and developing mainframe applications and system exits in an IBM z/OS environment.
- Strong experience in z/OS Assembler, JCL, VSAM, JES2/3, SDSF, ISPF.
- Strong experience in at least one DBMS (IMS/DB2).
- Strong Diagnostics, Debugging and Troubleshooting skills.
- Strong experience in z Enterprise Architecture and z/OS Internals.
- Experience in Agile methodology and use of Jira.
- Experience with writing documentation for developed applications and features.
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of the software development process.
Preferred/Desirable Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended) or zOSMF.
- Familiar with PTF, APAR and IBM maintenance terminology.
- Experience in Java on z/OS development.
